10 09 2008
Holidaymakers can save money on their flights and accommodation in Spain by signing up to email alerts and checking websites regularly, it has been claimed.
Sharon Livingstone, founder of Travel Magazine a publication which specialises in worldwide destination guides and travel tips claimed that consumers could find the best deals and special offers by signing up to newsletters from hotels and tour operators.
"The credit crunch is turning us savvy at bargain hunting. My advice is to sign up to as many newsletters as possible because that's where online travel agents first promote their offers. Even though the general rule is 'book well in advance', when last minute bargains come up they will be promoted in the newsletter," she explained.
Holidaymakers can also save money by booking their flights to Spain as far in advance as possible.
According to Ms Livingstone, travellers will find that in most cases, holidays are cheaper when booked early.
Meanwhile, the Evening Standard recently reported that 2009 holiday bookings were looking strong, with holidaymakers keen to escape the unpredictable British weather.
