If you're in the mood for some gaiety in the sun and sand of South Africa, then check out the Pink Loerie Mardi Gras in Knysna.
Starting on May 31st, the festival is one of the glitziest, most glamorous celebrations on the African continent.
After being founded in 2000, the event has proved an unheralded success.
Visitors will be treated to an extravaganza of comedy, drama, cabaret, music and spectacular dance.
The highlight of the event is a drag competition, which sees the most beautiful drag queens from across the country flock to take part.
One will be able to choose between the Pink Party, the Muscle-Mussel Oyster Party and the Outrageous Concert and after-party.
While in the area though, one should make sure to sample the oysters that Knysna is known for. The area produces 300 tons of the slimy treats every year.
Located in the Western Cape Province of South Africa Knysna is also known for its lush scenery and year-round sunshine.
