Britons looking to get the best deal for their pound on their travels in 2008 have been advised to consider a holiday to South Africa.
According to worldwide money business Travelex, nations providing their own currency such as South Africa, Bulgaria and the US are good holiday destinations for this year.
Travelex director John Nicholas noted that the South African Rand is now the third most popular currency for his customers, while the pound has remained "consistently strong" against the dollar.
Eastern Europe, meanwhile, continues to gain in popularity among travellers looking for value for money holidays.
"Research from Travelex.co.uk's customer service centre has shown marked increase in orders of South African Rand. This highlights the increasing popularity of long-haul destinations such as South Africa," he continued.
Mr Nicholas suggested that this meant people are choosing to travel further afield in order to make their holiday spends "go further".
