05 08 2008
Many parents are opting to travel overseas for their holidays, according to new research.
Travel for Kids claims that the increasing affordability of main destinations such as Spain, Italy and Paris as well as the range of easy travelling options is proving to be a major attraction for families.
"In our experience, Italy and Spain are very popular destinations for families... Paris is a perennial favourite, and easy to travel to on the Eurostar," explained Travel for Kids editor, Elizabeth Young.
She added that for many families taking holidays overseas is far easier than having to drive to one of the UK's beach resorts. There is also the added problem of the UK climate meaning that sun, sea and sunshine can never be relied on during British holidays.
Therefore, more youngsters are being provided with the opportunity to take holidays in leading resorts such as Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with recent figures from Travelodge revealing that one in ten British kids have yet to visit a UK beach.
