Spain is very much Europe's leading destination for those planning to satiate the vacation demands of the whole family, according to a travel report.
In an article published in the Telegraph, travel writer Anthony Peregrine notes that Spain offers beautiful beaches, exceptional mountain scenery, quaint villages and a vibrant art scene.
"It's a splendid choice and, I think, special to Spain. More than any other European country, it can be different things to different people," he observed.
Costa Brava, according to Mr Peregrine, typifies this splendid variety, with enough to occupy the most diverse of tastes and predilections.
Popular with families for decades, Costa Brava has stunning beaches, friendly bars and restaurants and a lively party scene.
Aside from this, however, the region also boasts a strong cultural heritage, with Roman ruins, art galleries and fascinating museums. Visitors can also try mountaineering, rock-climbing or watersports, or relax in the natural parks and enjoy a walk around one of many picturesque towns.
"The Costa Brava has it all, including some unique affinities with Britain," Mr Peregrine insists.
"Catalans share our taste for enterprise and our sense of humour. They lap up shows such as Blackadder, Yes Minister and Fawlty Towers - though, in the dubbed version, Manuel originates in Mexico rather than Barcelona," he adds.
Popular beach areas on the Costa Brava include Lloret de Mar, generally preferred by younger holidaymakers, and San Feliu de Guixols, quieter and more exotic than many of its neighbours.
