2008 News Archive - Holidays - Tenerife ‘10 years on’

07 05 2008

Within a decade, Tenerife has progressed to become one of the more sophisticated destinations for holidaymakers to explore on package holidays, one journalist has claimed.

Steve Race of the north-east’s Gazette recently visited the Canary island on a and wrote in the newspaper that it was his first stay there in ten years.

He admitted that his preconceptions were shattered by the wealth of options that are now available to those looking for something extra from Tenerife.

“This year, visitors will notice an island being transformed. Even in the hotspot of Playa de las Americas, there’s a new sophistication creeping in,” he explained.

Mr Race was particularly impressed by the zoological space of Loro Parque, the relaxing verdure of Puerto de la Cruz and the water rides and attractions of Siam Park.

However, while Tenerife - which first began to attract British holidaymakers in the 1960s - is indeed changing, younger visitors will be glad to know that many of its resort still boast the fantastic nightlife that made it so popular.
