2008 News Archive - Holidays - Tenerife is a 'fantastic' holiday destination

04 11 2008

The Canary Island of Tenerife has been described as a fantastic holiday destination, with plenty to offer visitors of all ages.

Writing in the Mirror, Susie Boniface said that Tenerife has "amazing" food and drink, fantastic cultural attractions, volcanoes and "virtually tame whales".

Although many people associate Tenerife with sun, sea and sand, part of the island is in fact a world heritage site and the island was once believed to be the Lost City of Atlantis.

Tenerife is home to Mount Teide, an active volcano and Spain's highest peak, which visitors can see up close by taking a cable car ride.

Meanwhile, Ms Boniface has described a visit to Tenerife's newly opened water attraction – Siam Park – as the "highlight" of her trip.

The Thai-inspired park is home to a number of spectacular slides and water attractions, including a manmade beach and wave pool.

It was all too short a trip but one which simply serves to whet the appetite – for plenty of sun, black sand and amazing food and experiences," she commented.

The Canaries are situated off the east coast of Africa and also include the islands of Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, among others.
