2008 News Archive - Holidays - Tenerife set to attract the biggest stars

12 12 2008

Tourists looking to soak up the sun in Tenerife could be in for an extra holiday treat, as a local entertainment firm has unveiled plans to lure the biggest stars to perform concerts on the island.

According to the Tenerife News, Canarias Live Sun Festival has big plans to turn the idyllic holiday isle into a concert hotspot for a few nights a year.

Following the success of an Elton John concert this year, and Live Sun Festival's coup in booking Rod Stewart to perform in Tenerife in May 2009, the concert promoter said it is working on bringing three more superstar acts to Tenerife next year.

Though no details have been officially released, the Tenerife news said speculation is rife on the island that the three big names to be announced are Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and Carlos Santana.

Tenerife attracts celebrities from the world of sport as well as musicians.

News In The Sun recently reported that cyclist Lance Armstrong had been spotted on the island.
