Families travelling overseas this half-term can make their money stretch further by following a series of simple tips, it has been claimed.
According to Tesco Personal Finance, savvy travellers can save hundreds of pounds by taking some time to plan beforehand.
Rachel Cutler, head of Tesco travel insurance, commented: "Holidays dont have to be expensive, with a little planning and some clever cost cutting you can still enjoy a happy half term together without fearing for your finances - even during the credit crunch.
"Top tips include using a pre-paid calling card to avoid costly mobile calls and sending emails to friends and family, rather than postcards.
Holidaymakers can also cut costs by shopping around for the best exchange rates and by changing money before arriving at the airport.
