04 06 2007

For fans of horseflesh and the rarefied world of horse-racing, surely life can get no better than a tour of the luxurious Nad Al Sheba racecourse in the wealthy middle eastern city of Dubai.

The Nad Al Sheba has come to be regarded by race practitioners and spectators alike as one of the finest in the world.

Built by Dubai's ruling Maktoum family, no expense has been spared to make it a true gem among racecourses.

The tour of the course starts with watching the morning gallops and then goes on to a guided tour of the stables themselves.

After a sumptuous breakfast and a stroll through the jockey's rooms and the steward's enquiry room, visitors are led through the Millenium Grandstand.

Then, to wrap the tour up, there is a visit to the Godolphin Gallery.

However, if horses aren't one's cup of tea, Dubai has many other diversions that probably will be.

As well as dozens of beautiful white sandy beaches and warm, blue water, the city also a boasts a thriving nightlife and abundant gourmet restaurants.
