2008 News Archive - Holidays - Tourists to take trips to Turkey in 2008

28 01 2008

British holidaymakers are likely to take a significant number of trips to Turkey this year, it has been reported.

According to ShelterOffshore.com, there are a number of reasons behind the increased popularity of Turkey as a holiday spot, including a rise in the number of low-cost airlines flying out to the destination alongside a strong advertising campaign by the government.

The number of holidaymakers visiting Turkey increased by more than 16 per cent in 2007, according to Easier.

"Many tourists who visit a new destination and really fall in love with it also have a strong desire to spend more time there," commented Rhiannon Williamson, director of ShelterOffshore.com.

She added that those visiting Turkey this year could return to look at purchasing a holiday home.

Ms Williamson added that according to the World Travel and Tourism Council, between now and 2017 there will an average minimum four per cent growth in tourism arrivals in Turkey annually.
