2008 News Archive - Holidays - Weddings abroad are 'cheaper and easier'

Getting married abroad is now cheaper and easier, according to comments by an expert in the tourism industry.
Spelling good news for love-struck couples, Mark Bell of White Sands Weddings says the increase of cheap flights has made exchanging vows in an exotic climate more accessible for cash-strapped lovers.
"Areas such as Mauritius and the Seychelles have come down in price over the past few years - partly due to a number of new hotels and also the introduction of more flights," he remarks.
America and the Caribbean have also seen a marked growth in the number of nuptials taking place, he adds.
Many resorts now offer free weddings and have in-house wedding coordinators to encourage couples to enjoy their marriage and honeymoon in the location.
Mr Bell also claims that getting away from friends and family is one reason why some couples chose to marry abroad while the guaranteed glorious weather is another.
Kate Thornton-Brown of WeddingsAbroad.com states it is more "cost effective" and "simpler to organise" a wedding day taking place in a foreign country.
