2008 News Archive - Hotels & Villas - Portugal to welcome luxury six star hotel

01 02 2007

Holidaymakers in Portugal will soon be able to check into a world-class hotel that will become the country's first six star establishment.

Plans for the Conrad Palace de Vila Verde Resort & Spa development have been approved by the Council of Ministers and the €88 million project will be completed by the Imocom Group in conjunction with the Hilton Hotels Corporation.

According to the Algarve Resident, the spectacular hotel will have 160 bedrooms and 115 separate apartments, promising state-of-the-art accommodation for the millions of holidaymakers likely to flock to Portugal in the years ahead.

It is thought that work will come to an end in 2009 and the idea has already generated a considerable amount of excitement within the industry.

Few of those lucky enough to secure a booking in the lavish hotel will find they spend much time there, however, as the outdoor attractions in Portugal will inevitably prove difficult to resist.

The Algarve's beaches, in particular, are beautifully sandy and the crashing waves from the Atlantic provide fantastic surfing conditions for those tempted by energy-charged holiday.

Those who prefer more relaxing pastimes are advised to play a round or two of golf at one of Portugal's many award-winning courses. The climate is perfect throughout the year and many of the holes boast spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean.
