Anyone with an interest in history, architecture or simply people looking for great photo opportunities are utterly spoilt for choice in Portugal's capital city. Two of the best known, and both with World Heritage Status, are the Towers of Belem and Monastery of Jeronimos, which are designed in Manueline style, a Portuguese Gothic architecture named after King Manuel I. Another significant sight definitely worth a mention is the Monument to the Discoveries, commemorating Portugal's great explorers and history of naval discovery
