Soldeu Ski Resort

Andorra's super-group of resorts – Grau Roig, Pas de la Casa and Soldeu-El Tarter – has teamed up with Canillo and Encamp to form the area known as 'Grandvalira'. Soldeu is the best known of these resorts and really lies at the centre of the Grandvalira ski area. It's also the biggest resort base of them all and has a great range of hotels, chalets and apartments.

Despite being quite a lot further south then the Alps they have a surprisingly good snow record, thanks largely to their altitude of around 1800m. The ski area itself rises up to over 2500m and this tends to holds snow quite late into the season. That said, they do get warm spells from time to time which can have an effect on the snow cover lower down.

Did You Know?

Unlike its French and Spanish neighbours Andorra isn't a member of the EU. This gives it Duty-Free status and prices for things ranging from alcohol to ski hire are comparatively cheap when compared to the Alps.
