Mojacar : Holiday Accommodation

Holidays in Mojacar capture all the gorgeous ingredients of everything that is so typically Spain. Spilling down the foothills of the Sierra Cabrera on the South East coast this captivating slice of Spain screams secluded bliss. Split into two distinct areas approximately two kilometres apart, it's a world of stunning scenery and beach life. Spend you days exploring Mojacar Pueblo stepping in time to the soothing pace of locals and getting to know this pretty authentic mountain village. Cue fields swaying with flowers, hills dotted with greenery and sugar-cube whitewashed houses with terracotta topped roofs. A magnificent view of the coastline can be viewed from Mirador Castillo, the highest point in the village. Pop you head in and out of the Spanish shops that meander the cobbled streets. Tuck into local specialities in one of the atmospheric restaurants or street cafés. Or, put on your walking shoes and explore the Medieval architecture. Sitting splendidly in the main square in front of the Santa Maria church is the Mojaquera statue. The symbol of Mojacar, thought to be 4500 years old is an Indalo man holding an arc in outstretched arms. The statue is said to bring good luck and protection and you'll find him painted on many buildings in the village. The village is also home to a bustling weekly village market, a Town Hall - famous for its magnificent old tree brought over from the Americas. And, if you've not over-dosed on eye-catching scenery, it's definitely worth taking the pleasant walk to the Puerto de la Almedina - an archway to the village displaying the Mojacar coat of arms. Close by is also a maze of tiny streets of the Jewish quarter. Or, if you fancy a change Mojacar Playa is a Utopia for beachlovers. The beachfront ranges from swathes of fine white sand to secluded coves reaching as far as the edge of Cabo de Gata National park. Leisure activities such as scuba diving and snorkelling are popular, and for those adrenaline-junkies, the thrills of jet-skis and parachuting are readily available along the waters edge.
