One thing that almost all tourists to the area overlook these days however are the white villages just off the coast that offer a true taste of what Spanish life is like.Malaga The Costa Del Sol or more likely the tourist hotspots of Benalmadena Fuengirola or Marbella: The Costa Del Sol has become in the last decade the UKs favourite holiday destination thanks to its year round sun and cheap prices coupled with British Friendly locals and a myriad of tourist attractions.
One thing that almost all tourists to the area overlook these days however are the white villages just off the coast that offer a true taste of what Spanish life is like. Just a 20 minute drive from the coast you have towns such as Benehavis Ojen Alhaurin and Monda. These villages are like time capsules going back to the early 20th century when life was simple and carefree where farmers still herd their goats through the villages in search of greener pastures and lunch can be had in any one of many tapas bars for just a few euros. The more adventurous among you can pick up a leg of the famous serrano ham or a few bottles of fresh olive oil or enough locally made garlic to last until your next trip for little more than the cost of a full english breakfast on the coast and more importantly you will be buying memories of your trip that are un-comparable to the typical photo on a plate that blights the coastal tourist spots.
Any tourist can go to the nightclubs and beachbars dotted around the coast but for a true holiday experience nothing compares to seeing how the locals really lived before the costa del sol became the costa del expat!
